Meeting new people should feel exciting. A little caution goes a long way — here's how to stay safe on Qchatz and beyond.

Before you meet in person

• Get to know someone through chat or video before meeting up.
• Video chat first if you haven't already — it helps confirm who you're talking to.
• Be cautious of anyone who avoids video, asks for money, or rushes intimacy.

Meeting up safely

• Meet in a public place for the first time.
• Tell a friend or family member where you're going and who you're meeting.
• Arrange your own transportation to and from the date.
• Stay sober enough to stay aware of your surroundings.

Random chat & random video

• Never share personal contact details, addresses, or financial information.
• Use Next or End immediately if a conversation makes you uncomfortable.
• Report and block anyone who behaves inappropriately.

Warning signs

• Asking for money, gift cards, or investment "opportunities."
• Refusing to video chat or talk on the phone.
• Moving the conversation off Qchatz very quickly.
• Profile photos that look inconsistent or too polished.

If something feels wrong

Trust your instincts. Report and block the person from within the app, and if you ever feel physically unsafe, contact local emergency services immediately.
